How we work

The road to your next trail run

Ultra running is not just about good fitness. It’s also about the right ultra mindset. Depending on your training background and your specific target, preparations ideally start 6, 9 or 12 months before the race.

Sweet Spot Performance doesn’t work with ready-made training plan, but always starts from your own goals, experience and the time you have available.

We briefly discuss your goals and how we work. Are we a match? Great! Then it’s time to start a personal coaching program.

Intake

Do you have little or a lot of experience in ultra running? What ultra run or trail run is on your bucket list? How do you get the most out of your training plan, considering your training background and your available time? How is your fitness right now? What are your weaknesses? What’s your intrinsic motivation? A lot of important questions that we’ll answer together.

Start

Based on your profile, we’ll create a power training and running plan, always for 3 weeks. That way, we’re able to evaluate and adjust along the way. We listen, discuss and motivate. We give you advice on nutrition, gear, planning, as well as tips & tricks on optimum time management.

Run

An efficient preparation for an ultra does not only consist of a lot of running. It needs to be aimed at specific trainings that consider the distance and the trail. We go for gradual progress. It’s important to listen closely to your body and to have sufficient recovery to prevent injuries, so as to go even further afterwards. At the right moment, we’ll deliberately push you out of your comfort zone. This allows us to learn and to adjust where necessary. If desired, your personal ultra running coach will be standby to listen and to give advice before, during and after your runs. He will also gladly run with you to correct your running technique.

Victory

Running ultras  of 80, 100, 160, 250 km or even further is always a personal victory. Depending on your own goal – getting a strong result or overcoming yourself, or gaining some more experience – it will give an immense kick. Still, it’s not evident. It requires an absolute balance between body and mind, both before and during the race. It's entirely your accomplishement. Joy and suffering often lie very close together.

Beginner or experienced runner? Running an ultra marathon or ultra trail? Building your general fitness, getting a specific training plan, race planning, injury prevention, the right nutrition, gear selection and mental resilience: we’ll work on all dimensions and get the best out of you, from start to finish.
